NEVER use the IP on the stovetop
Place it in a well-ventilated area of the kitchen
ALWAYS make sure:
The cord is fully connected (unit and wall socket)
The pot liner is in place before adding food
There is sufficient thin liquid in the liner for the recipe
The right gasket is correctly in place before closing the top
The steam-valve knob is set to “Sealing” before programming

Quick Tips & Tricks
If regular cooking time takes a total of 20 minutes, don’t bother with the IP
At the end of cooking, display reads L00:00 – this will count up the time from the end of pressure cooking (good for tracking NPR)
Cooking Formula: Pressure Build-Up – Cook Time – Elapsed NPR
Do not use thick sauces (tomato, cream of soup, sugar-based) for pressure steaming; layer these on top of the recipe and use a water-base
Liquid must not exceed maximum capacity marker but larger items (e.g., bone-in meats) can reach above the marker within the capacity of the pot liner
Meat
NEVER QR before at least 15 minutes of NPR
Rice & Beans (aka, Starchy Foods)
Rinse rice to reduce the starch (your steam-valve knob with thank you for it)
Add oil and allow NPR to reduce release splatter
If you must QR, allow for 5 minutes of NPR, cover the steam-valve area with a dish towel to minimize the splatter mess and do controlled QR (move the knob from “Sealing” to “Venting” in short bursts)
Sautéing
Select Sauté preset and adjust to preferred temperature
Cold Oil + Hot Pot = Less Sticking (Work that Maillard Reaction!)
QUICK FAVORITES
Eggs – Hard Boiled
5 mins pressure build > 5 mins HP > 5 mins NPR > QR
Rack/Steamer: 1 C water, eggs in rack/steamer
Bowl: Crack eggs (do not scramble) for shelled hard-boiled “loaf” for chopping
Delicate Veggies
Rack/Trivet + Steamer Basket: Set timer to “0” (zero), QR
TROUBLESHOOTING
With timer, pin and no/too much steam issues, cancel the program and carefully open the lid:
Not Quite Done – recover, making sure it’s sealed then program for more time
Hot Spot in the Pot – dislodge stuck food, reseal and reprogram
Loose Gasket – run under cold water to shrink, reset, seal and reprogram
Stuck Pin (Steam-Valve Knob) – clean out any blockage and reset, seal and reprogram
